世界中のコーヒーラバーが熱狂するバリスタコンペティション「The Barista League」。2025年に続き、今年も開催されることになり、その写真撮影を担当しました。

ジャッジには2023 World Barista Champion のBoram Um氏や、LEAVES COFFEE ROASTERS代表の石井康雄氏など豪華なメンバーが名を連ねた当イベント。ステージ上の15分間で出場者が5人のジャッジに5種類のドリンクをサーブする形式で、状況が分単位で目まぐるしく変化するため、常にカメラを向け続けました。

私自身、一度は参加したかったThe Barista Leagueに、撮影者という立場でバリスタたちの集中力と熱気を肌で感じながら携わることができたのは、何より光栄な経験でした。

The Barista League, a barista competition that captivates coffee lovers around the world, returned this year following its 2025 edition — and I had the chance to shoot the event.

The lineup of judges was nothing short of impressive, including 2023 World Barista Champion Boram Um and Yasuo Ishii, founder of LEAVES COFFEE ROASTERS. Competitors had 15 minutes on stage to serve five different drinks to five judges, and with the situation shifting by the minute, I kept my camera trained on the action throughout.

It was an event I’d once hoped to compete in myself. Even from behind the lens, the focus and intensity of each barista as the shutter clicked was something else entirely.
